You may have heard about Power Big Meet in Sweden as the biggest crazy car event for classic cars, customs,  hotrods  and everything that has to do with the hobby.  I’m all in on that.
– Now … Power Big Meet is three days in one city.  It’s like a Top Fuel. Quick, loud, and fancy. In your face.  We’re talking instant IMPACT.

This is more like a breeze of yesterday IN TEN DAYS IN THREE COUNTIES.  Imagine three towns jammed with cars from the 40’s,  50’s and 60’s . A vast area with cars driving back and forth through the towns  all day and all night in an absolutely seductive atmosphere of a warm and friendly nostalgic dream. Let me tell you. You don’t want to wake up.

Every store, every camp sight, every roadside, every village, every gas station is filled with 1956 DeSoto, 1958 Buick, 1950 Mercury,  1939 Cadillac,  1969 Charger, 1970 Chevelle, 1955 Sunliner,  1963 Impala, 1937 Packard and the people…

-Often dressed up in polka dot, duck tails, bobby socks, boots and the music…

 

 

Three bands och three stages in the park every night only to mention one of all music  places. Doo Wop, Rock and Roll, Rockabilly, Country rock,  …

and the Garwood boats, and the Rivas  … and the nostalgic radio station like in American Grafitti ..  and the hillclimb and the dragrace,  and the tractor pulling, and mopeds

and the Krantz Challenge and the Swap Meet and the junk yard

and the ….  , all held in Swedens number one ” vacation state” Dalarna where all the genuine, old, charming style of Sweden is.

TEN DAYS OF FAMILY FRIENDLY HEAVEN BY LAKE SILJAN.THIS IS THE WORLDS, IN TIME AND AREA, BIGGEST AMERICAN CAR NOSTALGIC FLASHBACK EVER.

Report from the weeks

The event takes of with a bang. The worlds newest car show with moving cars, loud music, motormouth speaker and BIG SHOW, Krantz Challenge, takes place on the first Saturday.

Thousands  of spectators gather to see the big winners from all over the country challenge each other in front of the stands and the audience are deciding which car is going to live to the next round.  Thrilling, transparent, tuff. The SEMA-show winner Johan Eriksson was there  to compete. A startling field!!

In the middle with the microphone one of five guys who started this 24 years ago today holding the car auction. Can be seen in the isles of Hershey and Carlisle every fall buying cars and spares,  Roland Pettersson. What a guy!

A thousand grand or 100.000 grand doesn’t matter. Everybody’s here for the fun.

Hundreds of mopeds disappeared in a two stroke fog when they hit the road. 

Every backyard, anytime in two weeks.

Making planes for tonight. Cruising the streets or barbecue with friends or mabye see Dwight Yoakam perform on the giganormous Valhalla stage or . . .

..oops, there they are … They went partying with friends at the music saloon in the park.

Top notch famous Cadillac restorer Christer Malm was found strolling among the cars.  That guy knows every washer, where it belongs and what way it’s mounted.   You find them all walking the streets of  Classic Car Week.

Järudds family business was there. They do everything from import to turnkey restorations.

One of their cars was the subject of the year . Why ?

Do you see anything? Me neither. Thousands of cars are idling by the restaurants and stores. Speakers are interviewing and it’s just a big party.  60.000 came last year.

So much going on. The tattooed guy in cap and beard is another famous phantom. Sheet-metal Conny. A wizard in bodywork. You could write a book about him. Anyways he started to make bicycles lately when becoming totally sober after 44 years of … well not sober.

This  first bike is already a collectors item. Conny decided that Joel Snell 7 years from Falun  was the one to buy it. Conny could have gotten more money else where but that’s just … Connys way.  The bike is called  Abstinence. The boy wan the lottery this day so to speak.
– It’s said he keeps it in his room.
