Summer, sun, bus breakdown and a fantastic Staffanstorp !!!
Click the pics and they will grow
New driver today. Meet Tore Granbom. Ice cold skipper who took water filled ship through brutal storms. This time, he took the bus in an orbit around Sweden in 54 hours.
Departure 9 am Harnosand Friday. Granbom pressed the pedal to the metal directly. In Avesta gave the return spring the throttle gave up and trick off, but Tore said nothing. What is a limp accelerator pedal to a diving as last man from a capsized ship for a sea dog like Granbom.
In Fagersta, we stopped for refueling.
– The pedal has been laid off, said Tore like “by the way”.
-Whata! we said ?? With 1000 miles left before we were home, it was no highlight.
Up with the engine cover. Krantzen found the spring lying on top of the engine. It had snapped. Gotte made a new one of a banner strap. Next stop Värnamo in five hours for new refueling and a burger.
Arrive at accommodation at complete strangers Conny and Anette at 10 p.m. After five minutes we were at home and sat in the Skåne summer evening and just enjoyed with our new friends.
Sweden’s National Day in Staffanstorp are cars and motorcycles on parade from Willys, which offers free breakfast to all. Cool. It was like the Blues Brothers when the caravan snaked under police escort through town and they announced rock and roll show in the park.
Krantz & Krantz pushed away a half hour and invited to the new! It is always risky with “the new”.
For the first year the club wanted to extend the meeting with rock and roll in the evening.
Our job was to draw people to the party and to ensure that it became jammed.
After five songs two blondes danced in the grass in the middle of the day …
… and several joined in
Skåne people are fantastic. I’ve seen it before. They are open, cheerful, playful half-Danish partyers.
Göran Persson (left) felt good.
He was the clubs contact with us. Another cool dude.
The club had worked terrific and when evening came, the distinguished party place in the middle of the town got so packed that the head master Adam had to run upstairs to find more tables to put outside.
Jammed.
The bus was to big. Gottfrid moved concrete and ….
we pressed on in to the plantation.
New place, new play. New carry.
The Krantz found a place to sleep also.
Whole grilled pork was so tender the meat fell off the bones when served, sunny day, the evening warm and Sweden just perfect.
We gathered in the bus, and agreed that this was the epitome of a perfect gig. An evening when everything was right.
The crowd wanted us to start earlier !! (Think that back home in Härnösand where the audience comes out to the pub 11:30 pm nowdays.)
The ordinary. Somebody want to check if it’s real.
Alfred on the dance floor in a guitar solo. A guy came up afterwards. I thought it would be just another rockabilly night but this was just wonderful. You can play everything !! Blues, rock, country, swing, rockabilly and heavy Texas rock.
Thank’s mighty Matti Arvinder. When Matti plays it feels like he weighs 300 pounds. Powerful.
The audience is always at the center when Krantz & Krantz plays. Another tough girl who came on stage was Anette Green.
She had been practicing karaoke to Krantz & Krantz-CD. Of course she was brought up on stage . She took the Dixi Chicks song You’ve gotta dance, away
– Awesome Anette!
We started 8 pm to applause and people on the dance floor, played until 1:00 am and enjoyed every minute.
Fabian Rapp bass player in sunglasses tonight.
A direct hit.
Afterwards we were supposed to go to our fine accommodations but then came Tore.
– I’m ready to roll, he said, as we packed sound and light two at night.
He had slept a few hours in the bus.
– If you say so , lets go home 630 miles
Said and done. At home 3 pm on Sunday without exhaust. It fell off in Norrköping.
Thanks Staffanstorp !!
YOU ROCK.
Next gig in five days Saturday 13 of june 430 miles north at the midnight sun place Gällivare.
