SWEDEN. Yet another reason to look forward to Trosa (Thong in Swedish)  The hairdresser Bengt Wallentin and his barber shop with fifties decor, stage and bar. -People travel long distances to get a haircut, he says. by Lars Krantz

My hairdresser for 30 years Bosiljka Harnosand threw me a special publication for hairdressers called Mirror. There Jörgen Edström had written a brilliant story about the barber Bengt Wallentin in brief with a good swing in both the dubble bass as scissors.

The salon in Trosa is like stepping into the fifties. Beside hairdressing  Bengt plays double  bass in his own band Fats Barber and the harmless Dix.

Inside the shop, there is a scene in where the orchestra’s instruments are rigged opposite to the bar. Young and old, men and women travel from far away to draw up hairdo.

-Since I’ve had salons in several places before, so will the clientele from everywhere, says Bengt.

There are also clothes, toys, instruments, jukebox and a whole Vespa parked inside the salon, along with original posters from the United States and. . .

– One hundred American cars were parked outside at one point says Bengt when Mr. “Fats” Wallentine invited to live performance with the band and hair styling at the same time.
Talk about that he has taken the art form barber shop singing to a new level.

Why all this Bengt ?
– I’ve always liked the fifties and wanted to get into the style of the salon. It has been a lot of  looking for the right things but nowadays people with stuff they think I want leave it at the shop. A stunning development. The grand piano from 1890, is a thing like that. Sometimes a customer sits down at the ivory playing  some songs.

– It is going well and another hairdresser is going on at the salon.
Then Bengt get time to another chore namely to repair old vintage things.

The clothes are not just for display but  are also possible to shop in the store.

He has also become Sweden’s sole agent for the brand Indola.  A range of service products for hair care which is only sold to salons but then can reach the customer directly in Trosa.
