Märta from Säter Sweden bought the key first

SWEDEN. She wanted a Crown Victoria so badly. She saw the key on a swap meet and the label on it was a bulls-eye. She bought the key and put it in her tiny purse. Crazy? Of course. Then. – But hardly now. by Lars Krantz. Translation Ellen Kay Krantz

sater1Live your dreams they say and what could really go wrong with buying a key for 7US other than your ego could get a hit.
Märta Stornils from Säter carefully placed the key in the dolly purse and slept like a baby.
sater2The family doesn’t consist of dreamers but of hard working people with a finely tuned interest for cars and the 50’s. If you in addition to that live next door to Järudds Car Import lot the pieces will soon fall into place.

Husband Rune Stornils has recently upgraded to a life as a senior citizen

A Crown Victoria from 1956 with a modern drive train soon became a hot topic. The upgrade underneath the hood was a perfect fit, as well as the key in the dolly purse. The upgrade was necessary because of the heavy usage of the car. When you visit a car show in Säter with surroundings the chance of them being either promoters or visitors is a pretty safe bet. Järudds car lot arranged for the import of the Crown Vic across the Atlantic Ocean.

Rune has recently upgraded to a life as a senior citizen and is cooling down by buying a workshop that he’s going to renovate into two stories with garage, repair spots and lounge.
– It’s terrific, Märta says. With a new work space we can plan for more activities. It’s early summer in Säter and the girlie is bursting with enthusiasm. She is closing in on 120 mph on the speedometer of life but to slow down has never crossed her mind.

sater11It’s Wednesday in the valley of Säter and the cars are already lined up. On stage Walles gang is performing.

sater6Walles gäng (=Walles gang)The rods hits the snare drum, the A-string on the double bass has a nice beat and the rhythm carries you from side to side. A scent of delta blues enters the atmosphere like bees pollinating. The accordion and the harmonies are the cherries on this sundae. Oh, snap! Yeah, that’s right! This is a web magazine! Listen to Walles Gang here. (Tip;  Rightclick and choose “play in new window” and you can continue reading  while listening)
sater4Just as I’m about to take some frames of the band the song ends. But they extend the last section three and a halv bar just so that I can get my photos. Awesome. Musical. Playfull. The backdrop is an old projection screen with the name spray-painted on and the drums looks like equipment from a minesweeper. The gigantic violin is labelled with DOUBLE-bass just for the convenience of the audience.

Sven Wallin – accordion, vocals. Michael Wallin – Drums, vocals. Linus Wallin – Double bass, vocals.

It’s really boring.
It’s really boring when they take a break. On the other hand that gives me a chance to see the tour bus! A Bedford with a Vauxhall motor! An extra catching on the slots for the motor and a big extra catching for the Hagström t-shirt.

To meet and greet with real enthusiastic musicians that play their instruments off-road beats Bruce Springsteen on a big screen with 20.000 after-shavy people any day of the week! Here every screw is perfectly fixated clockwise and if not, don’t worry, there’s an owner’s manual perfectly aligned with the seams of the leather seats. Catching again. Wish you had lots of gigs this summer and that the transmission kept it together.

– Come over, jump on the hood. The lady on the left invited the silver fox  in the far back to join in for the photo. Perfect for a real hillbilly photo circa 1963 but she sadly got a negative response. When the camera was present, anyway.

In the chaotic madness that arose I lost my notes so the quick on the trigger hillbillies have to remain anonymous. But pencil it in! The car show occurs every Wednesday evening during the relatively short Swedish summer. 150 cars when sun visits.
– It’s some great shit.
