Three Crowns Custom Shop. Part 1

MARYLAND USA. Two guys, Chris Johansson and Stefan Blautzik are setting up a new custom shop from scratch in Silver Spring MD USA. Part 1. by Lars Krantz

The name Three Crowns Custom Shop because they are both related to Sweden where the Three Crowns is a  governmental symbol seen for example on the Swedish hockey team . Worldkustom.com  will cover the story.

Stephan, borned in the States, has always fancied old cars. The summers in Sweden with old boats and old cars at uncle Chris place had set the pace. Today he studys the subject in school and is at the moment assembeling engines.

Chris was born in Sweden some 40 years ago. He moved to The States at 16. With 30 years behind the wheel of a semi and in the shop he's going for the things he likes the most. Rust, crappy engines, sun burned upholsterys, dings, dents and cracks.

Part 1. The shop.
Silver Spring is a hi end suburb of Washington DC. It’s not easy to find affordable estates. After months of seeking things didn’t look good. Were the dream about to die before it had even started?

One day Stefans parents said ( i.e. Chris sister) who had seen their struggle from the inside.
-OK you can have our garage. Rip  everything out and start building your shop there.

-What! No mam, can’t do.
-Nope, not in an ordinary car garage and were are you going to park your wheels?
They went out into the garage they had seen a thousand times. It had actually pretty high ceelings. Not huge but you could fit in a car lift. Some adjustments here and there, new paint, new tools and well ..

paint_garage-It wasn’t Boyds but it was a start and hey..  what can go wrong when Stefan’s mom sets the rate?
That night they went out with a smile.
Three Crowns Shop had a roof.

First car to go in the shop before the paint had dried on the walls was a 1964 Cadillac with a V5,5.

Originally Cadillac  came with a 429 c.i V8 in 1964 but 50 years later only 5,5 cylinders remained working. The two and a half others  kept the balance just for looks with their snappy Cadillac64_2ignition wires attached. Back from shopping new tools and stuff Stefan pried out the former power plant like a bad tooth when Uncle Chris  turned his back on him.

We’ll se what the young gun found under the valve covers next time we visit Three Crown Custom Shop.
