Cruiser Börje and his Hot Rod Plymouth.

Borje Edström has always been seen in nice American cars. More recently, in soundless luxury models as Buick Electra 1959 conv.  and 1960 Cadillac Eldorado Biarrittz.  Boats rocking old greasers to rest on the asphalt river E4 until death do them apart, or .. noo! by Krantz

01

– It smokes into the Plymouth!
Borje swervs on Hälsinglands minimum asphalt strip just off the Baltic salty sink waves. I’ve been with the motor head for ten minutes and it stings in my  eyes. Borje looks at me and hangs on to the steering wheel.
-Ha ha, we are deaf before Sundsvall he roars  tugging at the wheel.Image3Last time i rode with him it was the clouds. I talked  with adult  sir  Edström  about the development of the hobby. This new Borje Bold barger is  getting on my nerves.

03

– Read my lips, my Plymouth has all the disadvantages,  he shouts and  stops at a pine flying the door wide open.

The sun is hot. Bumblebees mose around and eyes pistils.

– The smell is exhaust and Dexron.

Cruiser Krantz does not know how to begin. It dissolves automatically when Borje throw himself down on the running board, and raises his arms.

02

– Ahh, this is  life, he says. When I get to push two Bilsom in my ears  and bounce off without suspension. Since I traded the Buick for that  Cadillac it has just been sitting.  THIS is what I drive. This made all the difference.

DSC_0925– Well I drove the Caddy once this year but when I’d parked it  I had to immediately go over to this and fire it up.

This is the origin of everything. A cheap, small car with a big engine.

Två Bilsom ear protectorson on the seat  and your home free.

Everything was right. Metal body, coupé, inspected with modern V8, the stance, the condition, the price.

he Plymouth from 1931 already had had the roof chopped off 4 inch.

Built in Östersund and then moved to Sundsvall near the sea.

A complete Hot Rod with computerized TPI Chevy smallblock convenient and turn key ready.

I tore it out right away!I bought a 77: a Nova with a 350 engine, 350 trans and a Super Bell something dunno rear axle.

I’m lost. Borje Edstrom who have every eye on options, finishes, chrome moldings, fittings. Borje who browsed through the original brochures and Shop Manuals.

-Now ahh, ohh I threw in and tore out ya here what I’m sayi’n and dunno what’s between the rear wheels.

05

Weber forty-eight upended and Stromberg 97. I write but do not get it, and now we’re apparently off. Got permission to take a few quick pictures before starting the engine screaming open with the tranny pumping more Dexron.

plyma31– We sit on tDodge pickup chairs, says Börje whose voice flutters merrily with the road’s unevenness.

Bystanders liked the rod.

08

The Plym was built already  in the 70s.
-There are Mirra here and there, he says cheerfully, and I want to faint again.
Borje that checked every inch of his cars in the pursuit of the perfect surface.
-Mirra here and there ?!

He  gives gas and the car steams away far too eager to be a tired 77: a smog engine.
– Mickey Mouse, Edelbrock and Competition-cam, he grins maliciously and I’ll just have to get used to it.

09

Now is no way back. Börje has come out of the closet after fifty years. He is a true hotrodder. The former glider has stepped out the bench seat  and shakes in 30’s car  with brush painted dashboard.

07

You know this holds eight  gallons in the tank. You get to sit and aim for every gas station along the trip ho, ho.

I thank him  for the ride and shut the door.
Clunk,  it sounds and Börje’s gone.

Presstop.
Börje has taken the Plymouth one more step this winter. He made reality of his carb. plans.

Four  Holley 94 on  Weiandinsug with  flare cut pipes has moved in.

  1. Hehe, den känner jag igen! Men inte ville jag ha tillbaka reservhjulshållaren. Tvärtom!

    Saknar bilen dock!

  2. Tjena Daniel.
