My first car memory
One of the highlights of my life was when I was fifteen and chimney sweeper Olsson arrived to town. by Kent Åberg. Translation Ellen Kay Krantz.
We lived in the second house from the forest and he always started in the first house to work his way up to our house. We kept a close eye on his car to see when he would arrive to our house. He had a black Opel Capitan from 1962.

When he was all finished at our house I got to ride along to the other side of town in his Capitan. I thought it was huge, magnificent and powerful.
From the first house way across town he worked his way back to our house whilst I spent the day in his car, full of devoutly. I closed my eyes in the seat and breathe the essence of the car, took in the smells from sot and upholstery and was delighted all the while he was up on the rooftops, sweeping.
Chimney sweeper Olsson loved children and was very nice to us, neither of us was afraid of the hard working man. Unfortunately, he passed away early but I will never forget him nor his Capitan and the little car rides we took in the town every time it was sweeping time.
It all started here. With a 1960 Kapitän. The year was 1978
Thirteen years later I bought a black 1960 Capitan of my very own!

Kapitäner har en plats i mitt hjärta också. Hade en lågmilad Royalblå ’62 för femton år sen. Jag kan fortfarande ibland ångra att jag sålde den.
Min första bil var en guldfärgad Kapitän 1965 2,6l sexa utan back för 1000 kronor.
Jag var 17 år, kom upp med 500 spänn och delade den med en äldre kompis som hade körkort. Han köpte ut mig sedan och jag köpte en bigblock ( ha) Admiral 66:a med 2,8l motorn.
My first car was an Opel Kapitan 1966 with 2,6 liters straight six . De car had no reverse. Price 150 dollars. I shared it with an older friend who had drivers license. I came up with 75 bucks.
Later he overtook the car and I bought a bigblock (ha) 1966 Opel Admiral 2,8 liter straight six (same body same engine)
