He took it for a spin and returned frightened.
– There has to be something wrong with the front chassis, he said.
– Yes, I said. There’s a rear axle in the front for example. A DANA 70 if that means anything to you.
That’s when he left.
Ha had arrived in a new rubber VW with toy everything and sat down in the rawest American puller there is. A puller with a motor from a tractor that can tow ten ton across the deserts of Texas in 60 mph year after year. A WORKING TRUCK, rough and ready, tough and steady.
A tall, mean, six liter, 325 horse four wheel turbo charged Cummins diesel with a frame made out of train rails and DANA axles both front and back.
A machine that eats two liter engines like VW for breakfast and that demands you actually drive it.
