ConverstibleSummer
Hopefully a real convertiblesummer awaits with 82 degrees, no rainfall during daytime and no bloody mosquitoes, lots of rockabilly music, I wrote in the spring issue last year and how exactly did that turn out? I will probably never get called in for an interview as a weatherman that much I get, but considering my bad prediction, the summer didn’t turn out that bad.
The 10th of May we had the best weather ever! Ulf stopped me in one of those half-cars, the roof and two doors was missing, and we went for a ride to the Mellerud meet. Later that night there was a cruising in Saffle were we picked up Anita. It was also that night we decided to reel in Lasse to the Cuda Club. As earlier mentioned, the weather was great, warm and cozy even at night, and I imagined a future as a weather man, but God above had another plan and wanted that “Jarlen” to calm down a bit, because the weekend after, the 17th of May it was spring break in Lindesberg and it turned out to be more of an expedition to Antarctica to attend the meet, but we heard some great roars from V8:ts, because as usual there were a lot of cars in Linde.

Guess it didn’t turn out to be a ConvertibleSummer after all, but Mariestad, Vansbro, Power Meet and Sunne, offered great weather, V8 roars and Rockabilly music. And those darn mosquitoes were in Cuda Lasse’s wheel wells, so the summer turned out great! There are some meet’s I really urge you to visit this summer: Vansbro, great cruising, nice people with a polite manner, and then the bikini wash of course! Then we have Amal’s Motorshow in August, a really cozy meet in beautiful surroundings. Lots of cars, nice people, Rockabilly band that plays, and not to forget the teenagers on Amal’s Motoryard (Thanks for last time girls and boys, hope we are welcome back). Check out what meet’s our Road Captain is visiting this summer!

Well there, we both realized that maybe we should have slept in this morning. Found the place where we were supposed to be and discovered that everybody were sound asleep. Headed for Mellerud “down town” to pass the time. Soon enough we caught on the fact that the time we had to spare for doing the discovering really didn’t match up with the time it took to walk across Mellerud. There was nothing else to do than wait.

Soon enough cars started rolling in and we weren’t soon to follow. The event was well thought through and nice. Soon even more cars arrived. Some of them very rare which always adds extra spice. However, I’m sad to say that there has been an inflation of the 1959-1960 Cadillac’s.
There’s about as many of them as democrats in Sweden! It’s the same amount on any other meet. The sun was burning bright and we had a fabulous day, with beautiful ladies, beautiful cars, rockabilly music and sun, sun, sun!! Life can’t get much better! However, around two o’clock I started itching for a ride and we considered driving to the cruising in Saffle where we were hoping on running into “Cuda Lasse” who I strongly like and presented Conny with the option of joining. We said our goodbyes and drove onwards in the glorious sunlight.

When we arrived in Saffle we picked up one of the many local talents they have to offer. With Anita in the car we cruised a lap or two and then left for Amal. We were welcomed in true Vanern – spirit. Time passed by fast and it we were ready to head to the cruising in Saffle. The first lap was the most fun one cause we got to join the car cortège with loads of audience on the side of the road that watched all the beautiful cars passing by. It was one of those moments where you want to be in two places at once. Riding in the car and also stand on the sidelines and watch them all roll by. I wasn’t successful in applying the laws of quantum physics and I’m sadly not schizophrenic either so I just had to make do with experiencing the cortège from the car. After about three laps there were not a lot of audience left and at the pit stop we found “Cuda Lasse” with his car. Lasse and I said our happy hellos and then Conny started chattering which totally drowned Lasse out. Either Lasse has got a hearing deficiency or he drank some of that questionable coffee Conny offered him because he didn’t at all seem to get scared by Conny’s ranting. They took to liking and now we are one great member richer!
