Hey to all old members and welcome to all new ones. Deadline for sending material to the second newsletter is March 3d and as usual I’m writing this in the last minute. It may be because I want the leader to be as current as possible, it may also be because I just don’t know what to write when deadline is upon us. However, the days are getting longer, the sun is showing itself from its most radiant side and soon the snow is just a cold memory. Hoping for an early spring this year. When you are reading this we have had our annual meeting and year 2014 can begin. What do we have planned for this year? The good news is that we are going to have a Nats even this year thanks to Coasters that has taken it upon them to arrange the meet. It’s gonna be lots of SSRA events from north to south this year; SSRA on Elmia, Rod meet in Bollnas, Nats in Hamburgsund, Vallakra and maybe even Lindkoping meet. In addition to this we of course have lots of meets thanks to the committed, enthusiastic clubs around Sweden. And don’t forget Euronats that’s in Mosedalen, Germany this year. Nalle Ronnlund and Hasse Skoogh have during the last few years been in charge of parking at Wheels Nats in Stockholm but they are looking for new crew down there. Wheels Nats is going to be at Solvalla the second of August so if you are interested, contact the management.

Keeping the trunk neat and tidy
One of the most common questions I get during the summer is: “-Well that’s fine, but how about the trunk, can I have a looksie?” I get why they want to see it, because on a T23 the only thing that’s not on display for everyone to see is what’s in the trunk. Plus, it’s commonly known that it’s not very spacious. I’m hoping these pictures will get you some inspiration and good tips.

Nostalgia, what’s that?
Some veterans from the American Civil War (1861-1865) that probably suffered from what we today call Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) were diagnosed with nostalgia. During the 1700th and 1800th century nostalgia was considered a serious and sometimes deathly illness. During that time the soldiers that were diagnosed were young and a long way from home, participating in the war. According to 1800th century doctor Leopold von Auenbrugger about nostalgia in his patients: “They lack sleep, are feeling depressed and have concentration difficulties. The somatic symptoms are palpitations, eating disorders, pain, stomach pains, and respiratory distress. They are silent, apathetic and seek to be alone. After some time they get totally indifferent to life. Nothing can help them, not medication, not arguments, not promises or threats.”

The body slowly fades while the ego is directed to this vain longing… An interpretation of the word nostalgia soon came to signify a sense of longing for an innocent childhood. Immanuel Kant was the first one to claim that nostalgia is a longing to When rather to Where. It’s this modern meaning of the word it is used today. A widespread and more superficial wish to in imagination recreate historic personalities and parts of time that leads to purchasing items with a direct connection to them. Big collections of memorabilia, retro items and of art, music and clothing from past times can arise from that wish or longing. An item of some certain historical value, for the owner or others can come in central use when for example decorating a home.

Body Shop on Wheels
The image alongside portrays a workbench on wheels that I made. The framework alongside the back holds up a tool board, socket and work lights. Cabinet and drawer unit is standing on a 2”4 and the wheels are fixated with T-nuts. Wheels with a locking function that makes the unit stable and secure. Out of reach on the picture on the left side there two suspensions for vacuum hoses that is used for extension cords! On right side is a custom made holder for ten clamps, each item in their own place. The work unit has a height of three feet with a joint countertop made by three different kinds of material. Gives you a stable attachment for the vice.
