Sweden: The world’s newest car show that attracts an audience of 25.000 around Sweden starts now. First one out in the battle of Norrland’s most popular car is Ostersund. Krantz Challenge is held at Optands airfield and Springmeet the 17th of May. The winner gets a 450$ prize in gas credit for the Super Finale in Rattvik plus two hotel nights for a party of two. The competition then proceeds throughout Sweden all the way down to Trelleborg. by Lars Krantz. Translation Ellen Kay.
Krantz Challenge is running on its sixth year. The competition try-out that was held on a field in Hoting now visits cities all around Sweden, has visited Finland three times and has been requested in Norway. More towns than Krantz Crew can visit are now producing the show in own regime on a franchise basis.
Every location that wants to run their own Krantz Challenge nominates the winner to the Super Finale on Classic Car Week Car Parade in front of the center stage on the horse track. The winner of the Super Finale gets a 1500$ prize, the title of Norrland’s most popular car and a triumph journey to three car shows and exhibitions with Hotel nights during the spring of 2015. Bollnas Motor Exhibition, The car show in Ornskoldsvik promoted by SHRA the first if May and the Motor Exhibition in Ostersund.
The locations that arrange Kranz Challenge awaits an attendance record. That’s been shown over and over again over the years. In Haparanda there are now 10.000 people in the audience. Hudiksvall has expanded their day to an entire SIX day motor week with Krantz Challenge on the final day.
Harnosand is now marked on the car enthusiast map with every man out to see the car show and the entire city is in full bloom with live music and one of Sweden’s most beautiful cruising over bridges and canals.
In Rattvik the bleachers are packed out for three hours with an enthusiastic audience, clapping and cheering in the Super Finale with the best of the best from every location around Sweden.
The participants say that they never experienced anything like this competition. A once in a lifetime experience is their comments to the Super Finale.
A maximum of 32 cars are allowed to compete on every location and the first ones to line up are competing. The judges are 99 randomly chosen people from the audience. Every second is transparent. No medieval mumble about who’s up for the next round. BAM and the signs are up from the judges and the ruling is merciless. The cars enter the stage in pairs and after the ruling; one of them is on for the next round just as in drag racing.
After two hours two cars remain of the starting 32 in the finals. The two favorite cars that have been green lighted by the judges in every heat are presented against each other in the battle of the giants. …And the people vote for the last time.
To win a competition made by six judges is one thing but to win over and over again the entire day in font of thousands of eyes and 99 judges is an enormous feeling the participants says. Everyone that’s playing, cause it is a game, wins a gift bag with a worth of 15$ and the participation is free. The ones that reach the top eight outstanding cars receive a trophy, honor and cheer from the audience.
Be ready when it kicks off in 2014. Lots of show, loads of music, excitement and surprises when the audience puts down their votes and picks and chooses cars in high tempo.

The giant meet in Jamtland opens up their airfield Optand to Krantz Challenge and we give a big thank you in advance for the invitation and promises a big show from the get go. Thousand enthusiasts joined us last year. The cruising was amazing. Don’t miss the event in 2014!
TRELLEBORG PALM MEET 8th of JUNE

The funny thing about this meet was that many were charmingly unaware of the competition’s proceedings. Not everybody reads Bilsport Classic nor spends a lot of time on usabil.nu. The gratification and surprise got even bigger as a result.

GUMBODA HED 5 JULI

All the great ones have been to Gumbodahed in Vasterbotten. The location is in an abandoned military facility that has been reissued as a party area with several live stages. It’s a well-known concept that draws thousands of people and now the event is expanding even more when the car enthusiasts are welcome with their cars, their music and their willingness to party.
Turn it up to something new this summer! Krantz&Krantz rocks the stage on the Independence Day celebrations the 4th of July together with other great bands! During Saturday its Krantz Challenge smack in the middle of it all. Saturday night is reserved for fun, fun, fun and rock ’til you drop. Perfect for the citizens of northern Sweden where driving 300 miles for a party is a drop in a bucket.
HARNOSAND 12th of JULY

Are you planning on visiting The High Coast this summer then you ought to pick Harnosand this weekend. Diggiloo will be in town on Friday. On Saturday joins the party. The town that loves cars once a year gathers in one giant party that shakes the ground on Northern, Swedish soil. And the city just wants more! A lady race will be held on the Friday of 2014 with live music and a guaranteed pretty-party as a pep rally to Krantz Challenge on Saturday. The weekend will be crowned with a magnificent cruising on Saturday night.
A gigantic boardwalk will be filled to the rim with cars, people, vendors, food and music. It’s BIG alright.
RATTVIK SUPER FINALE 26th of JULY
Maximum limit of 32 cars. Line up for participation at 10:30 AM. Show starts at 1:00 PM. Free of charge. Winner receives a 450$ prize. Crowned winner of the Super Finale, Norrland’s most popular car will receive a 1500$ prize.
The different opinions reflecting on the internet forums about Rattvik and its survival don’t really matter. Too big, too messy, too expensive. When the calendar shows last week of July trailers all over the country get hitched on to American cars and heads for Rattvik.
It sure is cool being at a cruising that lasts for a couple of nights or so but Classic Car Week lasts for 12 days – in three cities – in three municipalities! At every milk table in every small village there’s a meet, a rod meet, a swap meet or a coffee meet in a country side surrounding for almost two whole weeks!
– There’s just nothing like it! Heaven can wait.
The Krantz Challenge Super Finale is held at prime time on the best location. The horse track Rattvikstravet Saturday the 26th of July. First part of the competition will crown the winner from Rattvik. The second part of the competition will include the nominated cars from other towns of Sweden that will meet in the ring for the title of NORRLAND’S MOST POPULAR CAR 2014.
To win a traditional competition with seven judges in one city is one thing. To have been selected by 99 judges in eight competitions, a total of 792, is incredible.
Only two have ever won this title and this year one more is up for the win.

Vannas will be the first one out on the field!!! With its sharp date late during the season Vannas will be the first one out for the Super Finale of 2015. You can count on a tough to beat match for the spots in Vasterbotten when the Swedish summer is in full heat and full bloom. A really great meet with everything from car museums to rockabilly and foremost an exciting afternoon in the green grass surrounded by hundreds of rumbling cars. Vannas is, as Trelleborg, running the competition on a franchise basis. That means with lots of extra everything; music, prizes, show and entertainment and with a fresh voice in the speakers.
Trelleborg also runs the competition on a franchise basis were all the producing is made by the great local club.
– This if the future, Krantz firmly states: No one is indispensible. The hobby should be dynamic, get renewed and pulsate. In with new blood and out with the old. Whatever context you are in, when it all depends on just one person, it goes downhill fast.
