The story of the Caddy/Chevy trade

MARYLAND USA. The seller, Marty of the 56 Chevy called me up late Tuesday night and said “I Love the 64 Caddy, lets do the deal”.  by Stefan Blautzik, Maryland USA.

stefanWorldkustom Magazine now welcomes its first American editor in Stefan Blautzik. We’re proud to present him and his story about the Caddy/Chevy trade

01
With out hesitation uncle Chris and I said yes to the deal.  We arranged to rent a trailer at Uhaul. The following day I jumped in the dually and found a plesent surprise….the brakes lines were all rotted out. In 95 degree weather and 3 Crowns Customs determination we struggled to get the “curse” of the Cadillac off our back.

After renovating the 1964 Cadillac including opening the motor two times and buying expensive parts it had been sitting in he shop for some months now.  It was a good car  but the economy around it wasn’t. It had to go. Now we proceeded to find the leaks in the brake system and fixed it.

03
It took 6 brutal hours working with the sun beating down our backs and  100 percent humidity. We got it done! The dually was ready for towing! Chris said laughingly after the fix:
04
-“I think the Cadillac is on to us about the trade and broke the brake lines on the Dually”.
 05
Once fixed we hoped into the dually and After driving 40 minutes to go 5 american miles in morning rushhour I backed the dually up to the trailer we had rented out.
The smile was still on my face untill the Trailer Rental worker said “Before you go we need to test that all your lights work”.     – F@#$@@#KKKK!!! I thought to myself.
Nervously we plugged in the trailer connector to the duallys electrical system and nothing happened. The smile disappeared and all the guy at the Trailer rental place could say was “you have an hour to fix the problem”, with the most annoying smerk on his face.
06
Tire smoke filled the street after fishtailling out of the retal office. The 40 Minute drive was cut down to 5. We quikly found out that it was just a simple connection problem.
After the simple connector problem it was smooth sailing. It took my cousin Magnus and 4 more Blautzik’s to get the Caddy loaded onto the trailer without incident.

Magnus looks at me as most Swedish men would and asks “let me drive the dullay”.  Now normally I would say yes with no hesitation but I said back to Magnus “You can drive on the way back, but this is personal”. We drove up to Fredrick with no problems at all.

When we arrived we saw the garage door open and  was greeted by a beutiful 56 Chevy. You could almost hear her say Hello. The garage was filled with Marty’s old antiques, his kids toys, and bikes.
We had to do a little digging to get the car out but after a half an hour we got the garage cleared out. Now the only problem we had left was one flat trie and no compressor in sight. Magnus after a little digging comes back with a bicycle foot pump and starts pumping the tire.
08
After a couple thousand pumps we got the tire filled just enough to get the car out of the garage. The 56 Chevy was a long dream come true for me and seeing our first 50’s style car in the day light was a sight I’ll never forget.
11
Something suddenly occured to me as I looked at Marty’s garage and back at our Caddy sitting on the Trailer. Now Marties garage sat at a 15 degree angle, at first I didn’t think twice about it however after we backed up the dually and the 6 thousand pound Cadillac looked like a Rock about to brake loose off the summit of Mount Everest.
With Marty in the car and me and Magnus in front, we pushed with all our might, and rolled the Cadillac up the incline and  into the garage. The Caddy was in her new home.

The story doesn’t end just yet. After pushing the 56 chevy out of the garage I saw an old 1930’s cash register. It looked awesome and I asked Marty if he had any plans for it. “Well the Cadillac is so big and you went throught all the trouble to get the trailer, (long pause) you can have it…but the damn thing weights about 650 pounds”.
I looked over to Magnus and he looked back at me “it can’t be that heavy”. Well we found out the hard way that Marty wasn’t exaggerating and after a little struggle we got her loaded up.
09
At the end of the day 3 Crowns Customs had our famous smile back on our faces that stretches from D.C.  to Sweden, this was an excelent trade for both parties. We replaced our black 64 Cadillac with a bright touquios blue future.

Can’t wait to see how this story ends myself :) /Stefan.
