An old ladys bike

Can we do something fun with an old lady’s bicycle? The first renovation of the bike was when you were younger and needed a booze bike in the summer. Then it has been melting  a number of years at the gas station. Now it was time to deal with it again. by Jan Silén.

We start by raking the front fork sharply to get the road racing stance, high back and low front. It’s going to be  super fast you know.

Krantz comment when he saw this picture was:
– Hahaha ugly, but you just wait . . . .
Maybe it was not the most comfortable riding position, so we mounted a bench seat  and lowered the  height. A tank for containing refreshments can also be good to have

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAAnd  if one would get a little too much fluid it  can be good with two rear wheels so you don’t turn over.OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAFenders can also be nice  driving fast when it’s wet outside. Just looked up some exhaust pipe bends and sheet metal and started the welding machine. The backrest is good if you want a comfortable driving Environment.OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAAfter a test drive and  evaluation it was decided that new handle bars is a must

So now it’s just reassembling  “Abaka” and paint it , but we are chroming the frame
– Well poor mans chrome i.e. aluminum paint from the auto parts store.  Then a little purple on fenders and tank.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAAunt Nathalie had to intervene with the brush and paint, pinstriping the  owners namn. Note “the dumbell” on the chain guard. The driver calls the scull dumbell.

Tanken fick en dekal också. Fästet till baklyktan är en Buick kamkedja. The tank got a sticker too. The bracket for the rear light is a Buick timing chain.

The tank comes from a NSU and the front light is from an old traktor.

It became an own solution regarding the handle bars. Grandma put new leather on the saddle.

An  overjoyed 4-year-old got a cool bicycle from  grandma and grandpa.

It was obvious to name it  “Abaka” (=  Big, bald, junk)   Luckily I had two similar fashion cat eyes out in the gas station that fitted perfectly on the rear fenders. Of course there’s  a  foxtail on the sissy bar.
